Most of this entry is in the form of notes written on the 10 hr bus trip. No pics either. I am not going to edit it, as now that I am in Shark Bay there is a lot more interesting things to write about than the bus trip (which was surprisingly enjoyable).
John, the coach captain is awesome. Full of stories. Trained as a printer. A talented painter. An art teacher. Former talk show host. Worked in prison art programs for years. Knowledable about history, wildflowers, animals.
Told of friend, Lee Warner, killed by a white pointer while rock lobster hunting. WP don't come up this far north usually. The shark bit his friend in 3 pieces after one of his buddies shot him with a “smokie” which did not injure the shark but only angered him.
Walkabout with aboriginals. 3 weeks in remote bush.. Bonded with the people. Ate grubs, he only liked them roasted. When they arrived in the city they prostituted their wives and daughters in order to buy alcohol. Very sad story.
On a trip a few years back John went through the windshield on a coach (he was not driving). His nickname is now cannonball)
